Police begin investigation into cop who killed wife, self

The Ondo State Police Command has said it has commenced investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of a policeman and his wife in Akungba Akoko, Akoko South-West Local Government area of the state.
The 43-year-old police officer identified as Tolulope and his wife were found dead in their living room on Tuesday evening.
While circumstances leading to their deaths was still unknown, there were insinuations that the policeman, attached to Akungba Police Division might have killed his wife over alleged infidelity before taking his own life.
Police sources told The Hope Metro that the cop, who had been having issues with his wife over the manner at which she used to receive phone calls from different men, committed the crime after he returned from work.
”A loud bang was heard from their apartment, and when people got there, their corpses were found in the living room.
”’The man(deceased) did not trust his wife as they always fought on the matter that she received calls from different men.
”This might be the reason he took the life of the woman and himself.”
The couple, it was further gathered had a two-year-old child and a three-week-old baby.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro, said investigation had began to ascertain the actual cause of the deaths.
According to him, no one was present when the incident happened, saying it could be murder or suicide.
He, however, stated that the police did not rule out the possibility of an explosion due to the loud noise that was heard at the time of the incident.
