The electronic transmission of result from polling units containing in the Electoral  Act has be given a pass mark, describing it as the best in the history of Nigeria.

Giving the pass mark was a legal practitioner,Mr. Uguoji Justice. He said the e-transmission will make the electoral process in the country  more reliable ,safer from the hazards of manual voting system and forestall the issue of electoral malpractices to a large extend.

He said ” the essence is to safeguard electoral malpractices, that at the point of casting the vote and the vote is counted, it is been transferred to the central server where  it cannot be manipulated and any vote that does not enter the central server would not be valid or counted”.

According to him,  it would safeguard the possibility of double voting, ballot snatching, and all electoral vices relating to elections.

He said it would also forestall the issue of argument as to the number of votes cast and the number of valid votes.

He said, the issue of hijacking of ballot boxes will not be heard, even when the card reader is missing or destroyed, the result will still be intact and could be accessed from the central server where the result has been transmitted.

” So, it is for safety, to a large extent, it will forestall electoral malpractices, it cannot be tampered with.”

On if manipulation or tampering occur with Electronically stored Information, Justice posited that to a large extent ,it is still safe.

According to him:”  the disadvantage of e- transmission of result can only occur if people at the central control of the server tamper with it ,then this issue of electoral malpractices at that point can be traceable to a particular point, then it would not be from the polling unit and collation centre because it has been transferred.
