Fagbemi tasks religious leaders on truth

Jimoh Ahmed,Owo

For Nigeria to come out of her present socioeconomic and political quagmire, religious leaders must speak  the truth to power.

The Bishop of the Owo Anglican Diocese, Right Reverend Ayodeji Fagbemi, stated this in an interview with The Hope in his office in Owo, recently.

Fagbemi said it behoves on the religious leaders in the country, Christians, Muslims and others, to say the truth to the face of those in authority rather than romancing them.

According to the Bishop, religious leaders must be ready to be in the forefront of the rebirth and rescue of Nigeria from her present predicaments.

He said the message must start from all religious and worship centres by those in charge to reorientate the congregation on the need to have the fear of God at heart and also teach them to imbibe all religious teachings by their acts and actions.

He however decried the actions of some religious leaders who have been compromised through their romance with those in power in the country.

The Diocesan Bishop called on all stakeholders in the 2023 general elections in the country to let fairness  be their watchword.

He said Nigerians and future generations will not forgive them for any error or mishap they (2023 elections stakeholders) committed.
