Fish out bad herders in the state -Dojumo

The operatives of Amotekun Corps in Ondo State have been mandated to flush out hoodlums masquerading as Fulani herdsmen destroying people’s farms in the state.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security, Alhaji Jimoh Dojumo gave the warning while reacting to a report on suspected herdsmen who destroyed farms at Obasooto Camp three days ago along Idanre /Akure road.
Speaking with The Hope Metro on the incident, Dojumo said operatives of Amotekun have began raiding some criminal hideouts in Akure, the state capital, adding that they are currently at Ala area carrying out their operation.
His words: “As I speak with you, men of Amotekun are already combing some identified criminals’ hideouts at Ala Elefosure axis of the state. By tomorrow they will move to Obasooto camp along Idanre road. Any Fulani herdsmen caught or identified to have used his cows to destroy anybody’s farm would be arrested and meant to pay for the damage.
“We will not tolerate any act of criminality in the state. Anybody caught undermining the peace and security of the state if arrested would face the full weight of the law.”
The SSA, who said the government is committed to protecting lives and property of its citizens, appealed to the law-abiding people to assist security agencies with useful information that would help curb criminality.
It will be recalled that some suspected herders had invaded a farm at Obasooto camp and destroyed food and cash crops worth millions of naira.
According to sources, some herders came with their cattles and ate cassava plantation, pineapples, cocoyam among other produce.
One of the victims, Mr Friday Ayaghi whose farm was destroyed by the marauders, said his cassava farm which he planned to use to feed his family was destroyed.
The Kogi born labourer, explained that the hope of feeding his children had been dashed saying it is a challenge he could not cope with.
Also speaking, Pa Olatuja Idowu, a physically challenged man, who also owns a farm in the said camp hinted that his farm and that of his wife were destroyed.
According to the man, the herdsmen first attacked his wife’s farm few days ago and later came back three days later to destroy both his own cassava farm and the remaining part of his wife’s farm.
He therefore called on the government to come to their rescue as The Hope of feeding his family have been dashed.
