Forged BECE result lands 3 in court

Three persons have been dragged before an Osogbo Magistrate’s Court for allegedly forging Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results.
The accused persons: Ahmed Wasiu 60, Adam Oaikihena, 36 and Omowumi Adeleke, 18.
The trio were arraigned on a three-count charge of certificate forgery, conspiracy and obtaining money by false.
The accused persons allegedly committed the offence on November 25, 2020 at No 1. Diamond Avenue along new Owode road Abere in Osogbo.
Police Sergeant, Kayode Adeoye told the court that the accused persons conspired prosecutor to make a false document of Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) result claiming it was issued by the Osun State Ministry of Education, Osogbo which they fully knew was a forged document.
The prosecutor further informed the court that the first accused person forged the certificate, while the second accused person fraudulently tricked and obtained sum of five thousand Naira (N5,000) from Omowumi Adeleke (third accused person) with the intention that she will assist her to register for Basic Education Certificate examination 2020/2021 session and she failed to do so.
The offence committed contravened sections 516(9),465, 421and punishable under section 467 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol ll Osun state law of Nigeria, 2002.
The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the allegations slammed against them by the police, while their Counsel, Damola Olalekan made an oral application for their bail in most liberal term.
Magistrate Abayomi Ajala granted the accused persons bail in the sum of N250,000 with one surety each in like sum.
He, thereafter adjourned the case till February 23, 2021 for hearing.
