Gov inaugurates OPD Board

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu will next week inaugurate the Governing Board of Ondo State Office of the Public Defender, OPD and unveil the pocket of law books on the Administration of Criminal Justice Laws ACJL of Ondo State published by the Ondo State Law Commission.
The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Sir Charles Titiloye who disclosed this in a chat with the Press said the two in one events are to be performed by Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu at the Cocoa Conference Hall, Governor’s Office, Akure by 11.00am
In a press release by the Ministry’s Director of Press Prince, Bolu Ajijo, the commissioner affirmed that the constitution of the governing board of OPD by the Governor was a good testament of the commitment of the APC led administration to deepen and expand the frontiers of justice in the state.
According to the law that establishes OPD, it is partnered after that of the Nigeria Legal Aid Council which mainly is established to provide legal aids to indigent members of the public on criminal matters, adding that the office of Public Defender in the state is broader and more encompassing in outlook.
The seven members governing board of OPD which is to be inaugurated on Tuesday will be chaired by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, and made up of both statutory and non – statutory members. The Director of OPD is to serves as the Secretary to the Board
The commissioner said that immediately the OPD is inaugurated, the Governor will proceed to unveil the Pocket of Law Books on Administration of Criminal Justice Laws ACJL of Ondo State taking place at the same venue
Expected at the occasions is the Chief Launcher, is the Araba of Ikaleland Chief Jimoh Ibrahim, CFR. He is to be supported by eminent jurists, lawyers, personalities, traditional rulers and Journalists.
