As hearing continues in the case of the slain daughter of Chief Reuben Fasoranti, the prosecution led by the Director in charge of the Department of Public Prosecutions, Leo Ologun called the driver of the deceased Funke Olakunrin to the witness stand.

The driver narrated to the court how he took to his heels leaving his boss whom he said was groaning in pains from the guy shot wounds inflicted on her by their attackers.

He testified thus; “I am the driver to the deceased. We left Akure for Lagos on that fateful day. The vehicle we traveled in had the re AAA 147 FN. We also had a Toyota sienna accompany us. When we got ore, my boss directed me to stop at Total filling station. She ought food for us and we ate”.

After toll gate at ore, he said that they all heard a gunshot and his boss asked him what sounded, which made him to check the mirror and he did not see anything at first.

He said however that at the second time he heard the gun shot, he saw four men coming out of the bush with gun pointed at them.

“My boss asked me to reverse and I did. Some of them shot at our vehicle. My boss then shouted that a bullet had hit her. As I was reversing, the vehicle hit the road divider and toppled over. Four of us broke the screen, crawled out and ran for our dear lives. Five of us were inside the vehicle. Four of us ran into the bush, leaving my boss.

“When I did not hear the shots again, I came out from the bush and went to our vehicle but I didn’t see my boss again and I learnt that she had been taken to the hospital by the police.” He narrated.

He further explained that he went to Opeyemi hospital where she was taken and learnt that his boss was dead.

He stated that the others had surfaced at the hospital and they were taken to the police station to write their statements.

He said that he called the driver of the Sienna but he did not pick his call and. It was later that I heard later he had been taken into the bush.

Under cross examination by one of the defence counsels, H.M Gbadamosi, he said he was employed by the deceased in 2016.

He also admitted that he did not see those that shot at them.

The case was adjourned till 7 and 8, February, 2022 for further hearing.
