‘I ‘ll promote all professions’

The Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has promised to continue to promote all professionals in the state and treat everybody equally and fairly too.
He also disclosed that a Bill, ‘Drugs and Health Commodities Management Agency’ which is currently before the State House of Assembly, would be pushed through because of its benefit to the people and the state.
Akeredolu stated this during a ‘Thank-You’ visit by the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), led by the National President, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa.
The President was in company of the National Chairman, Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), Dr. Sam Adekola and other leaders of the association.
The pharmacists specifically appreciated Governor Akeredolu for appointing one of them, Pharmacist (Mrs) Folukemi Aladenola as Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, saying they were extremely happy that the Governor is giving equal opportunity to all health care professionals to advance in their careers in the state public service.
Receiving the delegation, Governor Akeredolu who explained that both Medical Doctors and Pharmacists are health care professionals, also believed that no discrepancy should exist among them.
He revealed that the appointment of Pharmacist Aladenola as Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, was based on his belief and conviction that she could do the job excellent well, going by her record of achievement within and outside the country.
Akeredolu encouraged all medical professionals to always work together to achieve common goals, even as he appealed to all to give the new PS necessary support to achieve success.
The Governor while appreciating the National President of PSN for the show of love, particularly thanked Dr Sam Adekola for always pursuing any course he believes in to a logical conclusion.
Earlier, the National President of the PSN, Sam Ohuabunwa, who lauded Governor Akeredolu for giving equal opportunity to all health care professionals to advance in their careers in the state public service, said Akeredolu is setting good example by appointing a Pharmacist as PS Ministry of Health.
According to him, every professional should be able to aspire based on the level of their intellect, quality of the output and ability to deliver. “There should be no ceiling for any professional. You have a right to attain the zenith of the opportunity that is present in the public service and in the private sector”, he stressed.
The President presented an Appreciation Letter to the Governor in expression of their heart felt gratitude for the appointment of their colleague.
The President equally congratulated the Governor on his second term re-election and successful inauguration, just as he applauded the governor for his various achievements in all sectors.
