Stakeholders in Nigeria have advised the youth to take the INEC online voting registration as a strategic opportunity to take over the leadership of the country to their advantage.
A political analyst, Mr. Afiwajoye Olatunbosun said it is the responsibility of all the citizens whether the youth, adults, old, married, single to participate in the election of the country and this regard, he advised that the youth should get their voters card, go to the Polling Unit now that it will be easier for them to cast their vote to the candidate of their choice online.
He emphasized that youth have long been clamoring for change, and this change according to him must start from the youth as he started that they must ensure that they participate in every process of the election that is coming up.
Olatubosun stated that any citizen of a country who do not have their voter’s card don’t have any right to complain of bad leadership.
“They must join a political party, they must be recognized, they must come out from a platform to contest for an election, they must change the status quo, they must change all the leaders under the political party, then contest for an election not that youth will just gather somewhere and begin to shout ‘End bad Government’ without participating, they must participate in the process that will ensure that bad government end in the country.”
A council member in Odigbo local government area, Mr. Fredrick Taiwo, said the youth should see themselves as part of Nigeria and ensure optimum participation in the nation’s politics.
He advised that rather than being used as political thugs, the youth should register for election and use their PVC to determine who rule them.
Also, a lawyer and lecturer at Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo, Bolakayode Alaba lauded INEC for the development, stating that the youths constitute a potent force in the country for the socio-economic development of any country which they must remain relevant and it was for them to be actively involved in the politics of their nation
He added that this is an opportunity for the youths to get involved in the political decision-making of the country.
Also commenting , Dr. Tolulope Ogunjoba as he said the youth can help propagate this news to every other person by using their various social media platforms to make people know there is now an opportunity in the online registration and assure they maximize the platform using the opportunity.
He also explained that this new idea will reduce the cumbersome of registration and the inability of people to participate.
Also speaking, Engineer Femi Joseph, said the people should ensure to spread the news of the online registration that INEC is doing now, so it can reach many people even in their daily conversation.
He also stated that this development will reduce stress and time wastage at the registration center which the people have been used to before.
