Muslims and non Muslims clerics have been told to see themselves as role models to their followers and members of the public at large for them to be able to speak the truth to their congregation at all times.
The chief Imam of Ikareland who also doubles as the chairman League of Imams and Alfas in Akoko area of Ondo State, Sheik Abbas Abubakar Mohamed, made the call at a Jummah service at Ikare central mosque.
Sheikh Abbas observed that many clerics have lost their integrity and credibility because of their behaviours.
He decried the situation where doubtful Nigerians without good records are being honoured and celebrated by religious bodies because of earthly benefits.
The Chief Imam appealed to Muslims to always emulate prophet Mohammed(SAW) in all His teachings.
He condemned bloodletting, ritual killings, incessant kidnappings, lack of trust and other vices affecting the growth of the country.
Sheikh Abbas directed all mosques to embark on fervent prayers for the country to witness peace in the face of insecurity.
