Man, 37, held over N9.5m fraud

A 37-year-old man, Joseph Adejogunola has been arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court over alleged N9.6 million fraud.

The accused person allegedly committed the offence on January 26, 2022 at CAPSFEED LIMITED along Ikirun road in Osogbo.

Adejogunola who was arraigned on a two count charge of fraud pleaded not guilty.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Lamidi Rasaq, said the accused person fraudulently converted the sum of (N9,656,925).

He said the money was the proceed of a truckload of dry maize, property of one Kayode Akanbi.

The offence committed is contrary to Section 383(1) and punishable under Sections 390(9), 419 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol II Laws of Osun State Nigeria 2003.

The defence counsel, Mr. Kehinde Adepojun, prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms, promising to provide reliable surety.

In his ruling, Magistrate Asimiyu Adebayo granted the accused person N200,000 bail with one surety in like sum.

He adjourned the case till March 30, 2022.
