Man docked over attempt to rob POS Operator

A middle age man, Ali Wahab, has been arraigned before a Chief Magistrate’s Court, sitting in Oke-Eda, Akure for allegedly attempting to obtain N95,000, from a POS operator under false pretence.
The defendant was dragged before Chief Magistrate Musa Al-Yunus by the Ondo State Network Agency codenamed Amotekun Corps on Friday.
The prosecutor, O.F. Akeredolu, informed the court that the defendant was charged for attempt to obtain the sum of N95,000 by false pretence from one Aruwajoye Precious.
Giving the facts of the case, Akeredolu said on July 15, 2021, the defendant attempted to rob the victim of her money under false pretense, using the latest style of defrauding POS operators.
According to him, the defendant pretended to be a real customer to perpetrate his evil act.
He said the defendant thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 320 of Criminal Code Law, Cap. 37, Vol. 1.Law of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge, while his lawyer, Yemi Salau applied for his bail, saying the accused is presumed innocent since the offence was not carried out.
The Chief Magistrate, Musa Al-Yunus, in his ruling granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned till August 18, 2021.
