Midnight inferno razes shop, house in Akure

Properties worth millions of naira were razed by an early morning fire outbreak which occurred at Oluwatuyi area of Akure
A source told The Hope Metro that the owner of the shop has been hospitalized.
The Hope Metro gathered that the inferno which started from a shop attached to a residential building at about 1 am destroyed the entire shop and part of the main building.
It was learnt that all the items in the shop which included industrial tailoring machines and other sowing equipments, textile materials, hairdressing equipments, electronic gadgets, other valuables and part of the main building were completely destroyed by the fire.
It was gathered that no life was lost in the incident, but the cause of the inferno could not be ascertained as some of the habitants of the building described the fire outbreak as mysterious.
A source revealed that the fire started around 1am and might have been caused by power surge, while another source said there was no power supply to the area when the fire started.
One of the residents, who identified herself as Iya Adura said the cause of the fire incident was not known to anyone because they were all asleep.
She said, “We suddenly woke up in the midnight to see the fire burning.
“All efforts by residents to quench the fire was futile. So, we called men of the Federal Fire Service, who later came to our rescue”
According to her, efforts of the firemen stopped the spread of the fire and prevented the entire building from being completely razed down.
As of press time, the owner of the shop was not available. But a source told our correspondent that she was unconscious and has been hospitalized.
