Mr John Otitoloju Akinmurele has emerged as the candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) for the November governorship election in Ondo State.

Akinmurele was elected unopposed by 89 out of 90 delegates who came from across the 18 local governments areas of the State with only one absentee through an indirect primary mode in the presence of INEC, Security Agents, the Media, National and State Party leaders among others.

Before the commencement of the exercise, the Chairman of the YPP primary election committee, Mr Williams Moses posited that it is a new dawn in the State as new blood are being injected into the Party for an all- round development.

He noted that the party is presenting one aspirant to be decided by five delegates from each local government, promising a rancour free excercise.

After the election, the Chairman of the election committee, who is the returning officer declared Akinmurele winner having certified the law governing election and the party.

In his acceptance speech, the candidate of the party, Akinmurele thanked everyone present for their support which led to his unopposed victory, noting that the task ahead is enormous but believed that the party will be victorious in the November gubernatorial election, with the promise not to disappoint them.

With his emergence as the flag bearer of the Party, he promised to ensure good governance in the State if elected.

He said that if elected as the Governor of Ondo State, he would prioritize the welfare of the people and enhance the economic prospects of the State.

The State Chairman of the Party, Mr Dotun Ojon informed that the mandate of the Party is to give maximum opportunity, develop the people and the society.

The Chairman said he is presenting the party and candidate to the people of the State as he has the capacity to develop the State.
