MOC shifts NYG by two days

The main Organising Committee (MOC) of the 6th National Youth Games (NYG), has rescheduled the earlier kick off of the games by two days.
The arrival of participants’ states was earlier scheduled for Monday while the screening slated for Tuesday and Wednesday fixed for Opening ceremony.
The Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development in a release jointly by the Chairman Directors’ Forum, Bashari Ahmad Maizare and MOC Chairman , Dr Bode Alli Durotoye urged the states yet to arrive to so do before Wednesday.
It added that screening of athletes will hold on Thursday 14 ,by 8:00 am at the Sports Unit University Gymnasium.
According to the release, opening ceremony will now hold Frida 15th while other event would hold as earlier scheduled.
Meanwhile Ondo State contingent arrived Ilorin safely in readiness to participate in the game before the news of the two day shift flittered in.
The Sporting Hope gathered, the shifting of the Games was connected to accommodation bottlenecks.
The National Youth Games is normally organised when the students are in holiday, but this year’s arrangement clashed with University of Ilorin exams.
According to information, the School management tried to postpone the school examination, which didn’t go down well with Students Union Government (SUG) which threatened to lock the school gates.
The Sunshine State contingent take positive from the situation by ensured their athletes were all on different location to continue their preparation for the games.
Other states currently in Ilorin at the time of filling this report are, Lagos, Katsina, Ogun, Kano, Sokoto, Bayelsa , Akwa Ibom ,kaduna ,Abuja ,Banue.
