The Ekiti State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 55-year-old mother, Felicia Ademiloye  and her son, Adewumi Ademiloye, 23, over alleged abduction of a 15-year-old girl in Ado-Ekiti.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Sunday Abutu, the victim, who was a student of a public secondary school in Ado-Ekiti, was abducted by the suspects sometime in the month of March, 2019.

Abutu explained that the victim left home for a coaching class in preparation for her West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) on the fateful day, but did not return home for over three years.

The spokesperson said the victim’s parents subsequently reported the case of their missing daughter to the police, but all efforts  made by the Police and her family members to locate her  whereabout  proved abortive.

He said, “All efforts to locate her did  not yield positive result until after three years later, the victim’s mother received a credible  information about her daughter’s whereabout.

“She alerted the Command’s Juvenile Welfare Centre (JWC) of the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), who swung into action and traced the missing girl to the house of the suspect , Mrs Felicia Ademiloye.”

The victim was immediately rescued while Mrs Felicia  Ademiloye and her son, Adewumi Ademiloye were subsequently arrested.

According  to the PPRO, further  investigation revealed that the victim was lured by Adewumi  Ademiloye into his mother’s house on that fateful day and drugged.

“The victim revealed that after consuming the drugs given to her by Adewumi, she could not remember to go back home.

“Unfortunately, she confessed that she is now a drug addict due to the amount of drugs she consumed within the period of three years.

“According to the victim, Adewumi had series of sexual intercourse with her and has given her to different men on many occasions.

“She said each time Adewumi is broke, he would give her to men for sex and they would pay him ranging from ten thousand naira to twenty thousand naira.

“Further investigation revealed that the victim is about eight months  pregnant, but has not been registered in any Heath Care Center or visited any hospital for ante-natal care,”he disclosed.

Abutu said during interrogation, Adewumi confessed to the commission of the crime.

The suspect, he added, would be charged to court alongside his mother for conspiracy to wit abduction, rape and child exploitation.

Meanwhile, the victim has been taken to the Ekiti State Sexual Assault Referral Centre, Ado-Ekiti for urgent medical attention.
