ODHA dissolves LG caretaker c’ttees, directs handing over of government property to DLGAs

Barely fourty one days to the conduct of the local government elections in Ondo State, the state House of Assembly yesterday dissolved the Interim/Caretaker Committees in the 18 Local Government areas of the state.
At the plenary sitting presided over by the Speaker of the Assembly, Mr. Bamidele Oleyelogun, the lawmakers unanimously approved the dissolution of all the 18 interim/caretaker committees with immediate effect.
The hallowed chambers equally directed all the caretaker chairmen to immediately handover the administration and management of their respective local governments to the respective Directors of Local Government Administration.
The House also resolved that all the government property in their care be immediately handed over to the Directors of Local Government Administration.
The dissolution followed the expiration of the six months tenure extension granted by the House to the 18 caretaker committees on April 18, 2018.
It would be recalled that the lawmakers had on April 18, 2018, granted another six months tenure extension to the 18 caretaker committees. The six months extension expired yesterday, Thursday October 18, 2018.
The House Deputy Majority Leader, Mr Olusegun Ajimotokin moved the motion for the dissolution of the caretaker committees on the floor of the House, and it was seconded by Mr. Jamiu Maito who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Oleyelogun, after pronouncing the caretaker committees dissolved, also said all the resolutions of the House should be followed to the letter.
The House has adjourned plenary sitting till Tuesday next week.
