Ondo Assembly commends ongoing infrastructural projects in Akure

Ondo State House of Assembly has expressed satisfaction with the level of work done on the ongoing infrastructure projects in Akure, the State capital.

The House therefore assured of legislative backing to ensure speedy completion of projects for more infrastructural development across the State.

The House Committee on works and infrastructure led by its Chairman Moyinolorun Ogunwumiju stated these during an on the spot assessment of the ongoing projects in Akure alongside officials of the State Ministry of works and infrastructure.

According to the Chairman who is also the Parliamentary Secretary of the House, the inspection became imperative as a follow up to see the level and standard of work done in order to ensure that funds appropriated are well utilized.

During the oversight function, the Committee visited the ongoing construction of Onyearugbulem flyover, lgoba internal road,Oluwatuyi/Ijoka road, ShopRite/oda road, Channelization of Ala river at Fiwasaye and the solar street lights projects.

The Committee observed that the contractors are very vast and following standard that can stand the test of time in collaboration with the Ministry.

The Lawmakers believed that the resources allocated will be used appropriately especially as Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa gave a marching order mobilising contractors back to sites to ensure the completion of ongoing projects.

“We are inspecting to ensure truly it is not a lip service, truly the contractors are back to sites, truly the contractors knows what they are doing, truly, the budget approved are being used appropriately and we are happy with what we saw.

“We enjoin our people to be patient with the government, this is a new government and we believed things will get better based on our discussion with the executive.We are confident that the dividends of democracy will get to the nooks and crannies of the State”, Ogunwumiju stated.

Also, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and infrastructure, Pastor Joseph Babalola said it is a passionate concern of the State Governor to ensure that the mandate given on the ongoing infrastructural projects are followed.

While explaining the the contractors were given a marching order for the completion and all the concerns are being attended to towards the delivery of projects, he added that all the Contractors are working in tandem with the directive.

The Administrative Secretary of the Ministry,Akin Omotola noted that despite some challenges, the Contractors are working as a result of the marching order, promising that the Ministry will deliver accordingly.

During the oversight,the project administrator on the Flyover assured that the project will be delivered latest by August ending, saying that it is currently at 65 percent while other things are being set for the completion.

Other Contractors on sites visited promised to ensure standard as well as delivered on time.
