Ondo: LG chairmen endorse Obas’ Cup

The 18 Local Government Chairmen across Ondo State have consented to the much awaited Obas’ Cup tourney, weeks after its endorsement by the Council of Obas.
The Under-17 Obas’ Cup which is scheduled to dunk off October 26 this year was organised by African Grassroots Football Development (AGFD).
The competition will be played among the youth under 17years across the 18 local government areas of the state.
Briefing the chairmen on the preparation ahead of the tourney at a meeting held at the conference hall of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftain Affairs, the Chairman Local Organising Committee of the (AGFD) Prince Akinfemiwa Akinruntan commended the Chairmen for their endorsement of the competition.
“We are here to solicit your support for the success of the participating teams in your respective domain,” he said.
The LOC chairman who was represented by the AGFD’s Director of Marketing and Foreign Affairs, Mr Samuel Patani revealed that the screening of the players will start on 16th to 18th November 2020 across the three Senatorial districts.
He added that registration fee of N10,000 will be paid per local government for one participating team.
Akinruntan said further that the purpose of the competition was to bring youths together and primarily for discovery of talents and nurturing them to stardom.
He said football remain the best tool to unify our youth irrespective of their ethnic, religious and political linage.
