Ondo police to curb cultists rampage – CP

In what appeared to be a reprisal attack by cultists in the recent bloody clash, an unidentified corpse was recently discovered around Araromi Area of Akure, the Ondo State capital suspected to have been killed by cultists.
Investigation by The Hope revealed that a syndicate who was commissioned to retaliate the killing of a businessman killed by some cultists in hotel in Ijapo, Akure, one Babatunde Olubasain few days ago also led to the killing of the yet to be identified corpse.
Sources close to the Olubasain family hinted that the family member received the sudden death of Babatunde with shock.
The source said Babatunde was to open his new bar in Akungba-Akoko on the new year eve but his life was cut short.
Babatunde who was murdered in a hotel in Ijapo Estate last week was said to have invested huge sum of money on the bar close to the university campus.
The source said: “he was to do the opening ceremony on the last day of 2020. All arrangements had been put in place for the occasion only to hear that he has been murdered.
A family member of the late Olubasain who does not want his name in print told The Hope Metro that it was a black yuletide for the family member when they received the sudden death of their son.
However, the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Mr Bolaji Salami has ordered some detectives to unravel cultists rampage in some areas in the state capital, following the unidentified corpse found along Araromi area of the capital city.
This development was disclosed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO) ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro in a chat with The Hope Metro.
Tee-Leo Ikoro who also linked the discovery of corpse on the Araromi street to the fallout of recent cult activities said that the state police command would soon get to the root of the incidents.
According to him, the CP has ordered his men in the various Area Commands to unravel what is responsible for the killings.
