The Young Progressives Party, YPP, has commended the chairman of the Independent Electoral National. Immission, INEC, Prof. Joash Amupitan, for demonstrating courage, professionalism and institutional independence during the Osun governorship election process, describing his conduct as commendable.
The party, in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr Martins Egbeola, also commended security agencies and the people of Osun for defending democracy and ensuring peace.
The party praised Amupitan’s commitment to electoral integrity, which it said deserved recognition, particularly at a time when public confidence in democratic institutions remained critical to sustaining democracy and strengthening citizens’ trust nationwide.
Congratulating the governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on his victory, the YPP described the outcome of the election as a clear demonstration of the people’s will through ballots cast during the election process.
Egbeola said the result reaffirmed that candidates with requisite social capital, grassroots support and public acceptance could win elections under any political platform in Nigeria through democratic participation.
