Late goal from substitute Azeez Ajagbe was all Sunshine Stars needed to crush Smart City 1-0 in the opening day of the 2021 Ottasolo Pre Season Tournament at Legacy Pitch.
Sunshine Stars have a much-changed squad for the tournament but managed to seal a victory in a game of few chances.
Chinedu Ozor could have handed the Owena Whales the advantage few minutes into the restart, but his effort from point blank was agonizingly stopped by the goalkeeper.
Smart City also threatened, but it was Owena Whales who eventually broke the deadlock seven minutes from time.
Ajagbe managed to get his strike beyond the Smart City keeper in the 85th minute
The Akure landlords next face Remo Stars tomorrow.
