Suspected cultist remanded for murder

For his alleged involvement in the case of murder, a 31-year-old man, Abiodun Clasile, has been remanded in Ondo Correctional Centre by an Akure Magistrate’s Court.
Olasile was arraigned for unlawful killing of one Oladepo Blessing, while he harvested her organ (breast).
He is facing four counts bordering on conspiracy, cultism, murder, and illegal possession of firearms.
The State Prosecutor, Olusegun Akeredolu told the court that the accused committed the offenses with others still at large on July 28, 2017, in Ondo City, Ondo State, in the Magisterial District.
Akeredolu said that the defendant belong to a cult group known as ” Eiye and Aiye” confraternity and had in his possessions some firearms.
According to him, two live cartridges, and two pistols were in his possession without a valid license and thereby committed an offense contrary to section 316 (3) and punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code Law, Cap. 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
“The offenses contravene Sections 27 (1) (a) (i), 3 and were punishable under the section of the Firearms Act, Cap. F28, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
“Section 41 prescribes seven years jail term for membership in an unlawful society, while Section 330 also stipulates seven years for illegal possession of firearms.”
The prosecutor asked the court for permission to send the case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.
The Magistrate, Damilola Sekoni, ordered the remand of the defendant in correctional facility and directed that the case file should be sent to the DPP for advice.
Sekoni, consequently remanded the defendant and adjourned the case till September 18, 2022, for mention.
