By Adekola Afolabi

Ondo state Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Mr Raimi Aminu, has revealed that the present administration was executing over 40 road projects at various locations within Akure, the Ondo State capital and its environs.

This is even as construction of the 2.4Km Oke-Odu-Ipinsa road has reached an advanced stage with the hydraulic structures and the major culvert being put in place to beat the raining season so as to deliver the work on schedule.

Also, the first phase of 1.7km road linking Akure/Ilesha to Ero town is almost completed as the contractor has commenced the priming and blinding on the road

Aminu who led his team on inspection tour of some strategic road projects in Akure and other parts of Ondo Central Senatorial District, also expressed Governor Akeredolu’s commitment to make roads more accessible to people in Ondo state.

The Akapinsa of Ipinsa, Oba Omoniyi Olufunmilayo; the Regent of Oke-Odu, Aderonke Bosede and her counterpart from Ero, Aderonke Ladesogun, applauded Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, stressing that the various road projects in their respective communities when completed will usher in more development .

The inspection team also visited the ongoing construction and rehabilitation of 9.25km Isarun/ Ilara to Elizade University and Ipinsa to Oke-Odu road.

In all the areas inspected, the commissioner lauded the contractors handling various projects for the progress of works and quality of works done even as he encouraged them to put in more efforts to ensure speedy completion

Aminu explained that all the road projects including the already completed ones were geared towards reducing the suffering of the people of the affected  areas and improved socioeconomic well-being of the people.

He noted that most of the road projects were hitherto impassable due to their deplorable state, making farmers lose large percentage of their farm produce.

He equally thanked the Governor for fulfilling his promises to the people, saying governor Akeredolu has been showing leadership since his administration came on board five years ago.

The commissioner used the occasion to appeal to residents to contribute to the internally generated revenue of the government for more life changing projects.

“Here we are in Ero.  Few months ago, this project was flagged off by the Governor to reduce the suffering of our people. The projects in Ifedore that fall under this contract is about 9.25. This is Akure/Ilesha to Ero town which is 1.7km. We have Isharun to Ilara, Elizade University, that is 5.15km and we also have Ipinsa to Oke-Odu that is another 2.4km, totaling 9.24km”

“We are working on various roads totaling over forty in number. This is one of the projects. Like the Aule and Ijapo projects. We tagged them ‘Phase C’ of selected roads in Akure township”, he added.

The Akapinsa of Ipinsa, Oba Omoniyi Olufunmilayo applauded Governor Akeredolu for all his good works across the state, particularly Ipinsa/Oke-Odu road.

“I’m very, very happy with the construction of this road because we have been suffering for the past years. In fact, I cannot thank our Governor enough for what he has done for us. The  construction of the road will boost the socioeconomic activities of this town.

“This is the only alternative road to Akure, so all of us in my community are very happy. This road was nothing to write home about before our Governor intervened to construct it for us. When it is completed I will be spending less than five minutes to Akure”, he stressed.

Oba Olufunmilayo noted that several poeple living in the Ipinsa community are working in the state capital, hence the importance of the road not only to the indigenes but other residents.

Residents of the communities were full of praises for the leadership style of Governor Akeredolu and appealed for speedy completion for the usage of motorists and commuters.
