Woman jailed over threat to life

A 31-year-old woman, Toyin Adebeyinje, has been sentenced to three  months imprisonment by an Ondo Magistrate Court for threatening to kill one Roseline Olawoye.

The convict was said to have committed the offence sometimes in the month of January, 2017 at No 5, Road 1, Akunkugbe street Lusaluwa, Ondo.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Damilola Sekoni, found her guilty and handed down the sentence with an option of N50,000 fine.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt: Akao Moremi, had told the court that the convict threatened to send thugs to kill one Roseline Olawoye, the chairperson of Aserere Cooperative Society.

She was said to have committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 86 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

After the court verdict, the defence counsel, Chief O. J Ikudaisi, prayed the court to temper justice with mercy in sentencing his client.
