Yahaya Bello heads Ondo APC primary election committee

The All Progressives Congress APC yesterday appointed Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello to head a nine-man Ondo All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election committee slated for next Monday, July 20.
The Caretaker/Extra-ordinary National Convention Planning Committee (CEONCPC) of the party also approved Emperor Chris Baywood Ibe to head a nine-man Primary Election Appeal Committee.
A statement by the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party, Yekini Nabena, on Thursday in Abuja said the National Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, Governor Mai Mala Buni has approved the constitution of the committees.
The Governorship Primary Election Committee has Olorogun o’tega Emerhor as Secretary while Alwan Hassan, Chief Samuel Sambo, Hajiya Binta Salihu, Mr. Emma Andy, Dr. Adebayo Adelabu, Abdullahi Aliyu and Mrs. Margret Ngozi Igwe are to serve as members of the committee.
Arch. Abdulmimuni Okara is to serve as Secretary to the Governorship Primary Election Appeal Committee, while Mr. Festus Fientes, Mr. Okon Owoefiak, Mr. Abba Isah, Alh. Umar Duhu, Hon. Sani El-katuzu, Mrs. Osuere Eunice and Emeka Agaba are appointed as members
Nabena further said both Committees will be inaugurated by Buni at the party National Secretariat on Friday.
Meanwhile, All Progressives Congress APC Screening Appeal Committee has cleared twelve aspirants to contest the Party’s forthcoming primary election.
The cleared aspirants are :Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu SAN, Joseph Olusola Iji, Odimayo Okunjemi John, Olayide Owolabi Adelami, Kekemeke Duerimini Isaacs, Olusola Oke Alex SAN
Othere are: Ifeoluwa Olusola Oyedele, Olajumoke Olubusola Anifowoshe, Awodeyi Akinsehinwa Akinola C., Adetula Olubukola Olarogha O., Dr. Abraham Olusegen Michael and Dr. Nathaniel O. Adojutelegan
The Ondo State APC governorship primary election is scheduled for Monday July 20, 2020 while the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed October 10, 2020 for the governorship election.
Less than five days to the primary election, all seem to be well as the aspirants were busy wooing delegates without rancour.
Delegates selected from each ward across the state are expected to converge on Akure the state capital for the election on July 20.
Following the tensed screening exercise which finally declared all the 12 aspirants qualified for the primary election, peaceful campaign strategies have been observed in line with the party’s election manifestos by the aspirants.
Aside their individual efforts at reaching out to and meeting delegates, various supportive groups are moving about canvassing support for their candidates.
Speaking about the preparedness of the party for the primary election, the APC’s spokesman in the state, Mr. Alex Kalejaiye said that the committee to conduct the election comprised people of high integrity to bring out the best for the party.
According to him, the delegates list which is already with the national executives of the party consists of key executive members at ward, local, and state government levels, including special delegates who are former leaders of the party.
He explained that the state executives had invited all the Local Government party chairmen to a meeting where they were sensitised on the need to comport their members in a peaceful manner for the primary.
According to him, the party had advised aspirants to do more of social media campaigns in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, saying that the party wanted to rule over a healthy state as he emphatically said APC would win overwhelmingly come October 20.
