20th NSF: Ondo athletes resume training today —OSSC GM

As 20th National Sports Festival (NSF) gets new date, the General Manager Ondo State Sports Council (OSSC), Mr Henry Omoyele Babatunde has said the state athletes will today resume full training.
While briefing Sporting Hope, Babatunde said the Council has approved December 3 to 18 as the new date for the 2020 National Sports Festival .
The former Swimming Silver medalists, added that the festival will be organised in phases in order to be COVID 19 compliance.
According to him, “Festival 3-18 December, opening games village 3-4th December,opening Ceremony 5th December, competition 1st phase – 6-10th December arrival 2nd phase -11th December, competition phase 2 from 12-16th December, closing ceremony 17th December closing games Vila 18”
He explained that this years’ Festival was divided into phases in order to be in compliance with COVID -19 protocols and guidelines as issued by the Presidential Task Force.
“The essence of it is that we don’t want to have more than 12000 participants in a phase.”
He said part of the conditions for all the participating contingents at the Festival was that they must provide face mask for all their athletes and their officials and other COVID – 19 precautionary measures.
On the motivation of athletes and their Coaches, he said the management team in collaboration with their supervising Ministry will inform the government on the need to do needful for them before during and after the Festival.
“With the help of God, we will have good outing at the fiesta,” he said.
Ondo State representative at the four days National Council On Sports includes; Commissioner Youth and Sports Development, Mr Dotun Owanikin and Director of Coaching, Mr Sunday Fagite .
