No fewer than 2,500 women benefited from the federal government Cash Grant for the Rural Women in Ondo State
The event which was flagged off during the week at Ondo State Information Agency, SITA has the representatives of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development among others in attendance
Each of the beneficiaries collected N20,000 and were selected across the 18 local governments areas of state
The grant is aimed at cushioning the effect of COVID-19 pandemic on the socio economic lives of the beneficiaries
Presenting the money to the beneficiaries, Technical Assistant to the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Mrs. Kemisola Olasetemi said structures are on ground to ensure that hitch in the distribution of the federal government programme is removed.
Ondo State Focal Person of the programme, Mrs Olubunmi Ademosu who assured that the programme will be a continuous one lauded the Federal and Ondo State Governments for their caring hearts for the less privileged
She said all arrangements have been concluded that the money only get to the target beneficiaries and warned that the beneficiaries should always appreciate the gesture of the government
Ondo State Coordinator of the programme , Tayo Falodun said the beneficiaries were selected across the three senatorial districts of the state adding that the selection has no political coloration
Cross sections of beneficiaries who spoke with The Hope expressed deep appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for remembering them
They declared that the gesture will lift them out of their poverty level.
