3 die in OPC, OPCI cult clashes

Fear has gripped residents of Ikire as two persons reportedly died following the clash between members of Odua People’s Congress, OPC, and Odua Peoples Congress Initiative, OPCI.
The Hope Metro gathered that the rival groups were fighting for supremacy, which has led to some members sustaining injuries.
Coordinator of OPC, Osun State, Prince Deji Aladeshawe, confirmed the incident.
He said: “The incident is true, one Olayode was killed on our side, while one Wasiu was killed at the side of OPCI.”
Special Adviser to Osun Governor on Security, Mrs. Abiodun Ige, said the State Government has intervened in the matter with the help of police.
In a related incident, a 35-year-old man, Babalola Lekan, was shot dead by a rival cult gang on Friday in Osogbo.
Lekan was shot around 2:30 pm at Asoje area by unidentified cultists during a supremacy gun battle.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Osun State, Yemisi Opalola, in a signal made available to The Hope Metro confirmed the incident.
“The corpse of the deceased has been deposited at UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital mortuary, Osogbo.
Meanwhile, the police are on the trail of the cultists,” Opalola stated.
