Two unknown persons  have reportedly lost their lives at the weekend,  in a fatal road accident that occurred at Asewele community in Odigbo local government area of Ondo State.

The crash involved a Toyota Previa Bus heading towards Ore axis and a truck van conveying cows coming from Odigbo axis of the road.

An eyewitness told  The Hope Metro that the accident was caused by over speeding around a sharp corner of the road.

Confirming the incident in a phone call, the Unit Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ore Unit Command, Mr Sikiru Alonge, attributed the accident to over speeding and head-on collision.

“Seven persons; two female and five male, in two vehicles, were involved in the accident. A female died immediately, while a male died later at the hospital.

He, urged drivers against over speeding, saying they give the drivers  counsel all the time, so as to avert crashes, save lives and property, especially during the raining season.

He said the corpses had been deposited at the Ondo State Specialist Hospital morgue, while other victims are still in the hospital responding to treatment.

“The Ore-Ondo road is narrow, and that is the reason motorists in that corridor need to be patient, concentrate and maintain normal speed limit” he stated.

Our correspondent who visited the scene of the accident gathered that a combined team of Police and FRSC officials were involved in the rescue operations.

Meanwhile, three people have been reportedly crushed to death in the early hours of Sunday by a hit and run driver.

The people  identified as Adamu Mahmud, Jubril Suleiman and Attairu Haruna were said to be on a motorcycle, enroute Ejigbo- Ara road in Osun  state before a reckless driver rammed over them.

A source said all the deceased hailed from Kebbi state.

However, there are conflicting claims that the driver of the hit and run vehicle set the car ablaze himself while another claimed that it was angry mob that set ablaze the vehicle.

It was learnt that the deceased had been buried in Ejigbo according to Islamic rites.
