70 percent of students involved in cyber crime – EFCC

Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede has expressed worry over the alarming rate of Nigerian youths’ involvement in cybercrimes.

Olukoyede in a statement issued by EFCC on X said it is worrisome that 7 out of ten students in Nigeria today are involved in cybercrimes.

Olukoyede who made the call in Abuja called on the media to design programmes that are aimed at enlightening the Nigerian youth on the evil of the crimes.

“These are the youths we are preparing to be leaders of tomorrow. The media should not relent in enlightening them on the evils of such criminal practices.”

He decried the effects of youth’s involvement in internet-related crimes and described the practice as a menace and cankerworm in society.

Olukoyede called for a wider media enlightenment of the youth across the country on the effects of indulgence in internet fraud.
