Ondo State Government has assured that work will commence on the proposed fly-over bridge at Ore in Odigbo Local Government area of the state in few weeks.

The project is one of the numerous projects flagged-off to commemorate the Akeredolu-led administration’s one year anniversary, but was delayed by an approval from the Federal Government and paucity of funds.

The State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Rt Hon Taofeek Abdulsalam made the disclosure while briefing newsmen shortly after the weekly Exco meeting held at the Governor’s Office in Akure.

He noted that the present administration is fully committed to making the project a dream come true to ease traffic congestion and avoidable accidents in that axis.

Abdulsalam said despite the Federal Government’s earlier statement that it would not reimburse any state government, Governor Akeredolu is determined to commence the construction of the Ore fly-over in fulfilment of his earlier promise made to the people of the state.

The Commissioner who stated that the  construction would begin as soon as valuation of adjoining properties is completed, and assured that the contractor handling the project will move to site in few weeks time.

He also hinted that the eight billion naira Okitipupa Bye-Pass road will also commence next week, adding that there will be a stakeholders meeting with the people of the town to ensure full compensation for crops and properties that would be affected by the construction.

Abdulsalam who stressed that the two and half kilometre Ikare-Ugbe road has been completed equally mentioned that all the contractors working on road projects across the state are the working seriously to ensure that they meet up with the deadline for completion.

Also speaking, Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Infrastructure, Engr Raheem Aminu described the record achieved by the present administration within a short period as unprecedented, saying no previous administration has achieved such within 18 months.

Raheem stated that since the present administration assumed office, over 48 kilometre road projects have been carried out across the three Senatorial Districts of the state.

In Akure, the Central Senatorial District, he mentioned the 2.0km Iwalewa road network connecting other roads like Alaafiatayo, State Hospital and Oshinle roads which have since been completed and commissioned.

Other completed projects according to him include the 1.5km Abusoro road in Akure and the 3km Okelisa and Bajare roads in Idanre among others.

He listed the ongoing ones to include Oke-Ogba road in Akure, Alagbaka-High Court-SIB road also in Akure; Gaga road in Aule; IgbaraOke-Ibuji road; Isharun township roads and Bolodunro-Fagbo road in Ondo town.

Aminu said the contractor handling Brigadier Ademulegun Road in Ondo town has been mobilised to site.

In Ondo North Senatorial District, the Commissioner listed projects completed to include the 2.5km Jubilee Ugbe road; 1.5km Supare (Oke Afaa) road and 27.5km Iwaro road.

Others are 2.5km Hewlet, Ogbo Omo, Igbadara and Ayegunle road in Ifon and the 2.5km internal roads in GRA, Owo.
