An Ile-Ife Magistrate Court on Wednesday remanded a 30-year-old man, James Michael, over alleged child stealing and breach of peace.
The police prosecutor, Inspector James Obaletan said the accused attempted to steal a child and was almost lynched on February 4, 2019, at Olode, Ifetedo.
According to the prosecutor, the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace.
Obaletan said the offences contravened sections 37 (1) and 240 of the Criminal Law of Osun, 2002.
The accused, who had no legal representation, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of child stealing and breach of peace.
The Magistrate, Olukunle Owolawi, thereby remanded him in Ile-Ife prison, pending the consideration of his bail application.
He adjourned the case until March 21, 2019.
