Ondo state Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, yesterday presented to members of the State House of Assembly 2020 Model of Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) KIA Sportage as official vehicles.
Presenting the vehicles at the Government House in Akure, Akeredolu said his administration though constrained by the dwindling resources accruing to the state at this time will continue to keep to promises.
This is the second time Governor Akeredolu would present members of the Ondo State House of Assembly with official vehicles in three and a half years.
It would be recalled the Governor last year presented SUVs to members of the past 8th Assembly.
He pleaded with the lawmakers to continue to support his administration to fast track the much needed development for the Sunshine State which his administration has been committed to since inception in 2017.
While congratulating them for a scaled-up status consequent upon their services to the state, Governor Akeredolu prayed for God’s guidance in the utilisation of the vehicles.
Responding on behalf of his colleagues the Speaker, Bamidele Oleyelogun, appreciated the governor for being a faithful servant-leader.
He stated that the gesture would propel them to continue to work assiduously for the re-election of the governor.
According to him, the official cars would go a long way in enhancing their legislative duties.
Oleyelogun equally applauded the Governor for his various infrastructural projects across the state which have brought a lot of development to the state and the people.
He added that the Assembly is solidly behind the second term re-election of the Governor to consolidate his various developmental strides across the state.
Also, the Minority Leader of the Assembly and member of the PDP representing Akoko North-East Constituency, Rasheed Elegbeleye, noted that the PDP members in the House have nothing against the Governor, saying the Governor is doing well in the state.
Other lawmakers including, Festus Adefiranye, representing Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Constituency and Taofik Muhammed, representing Akoko North West Constituency 2, described the presentation of the vehicles as a promise fulfilled, saying it would further improve their legislative performance.
