Akeredolu seeks review of Nigeria’s structure

Right environment is key to the needed development the country is clamouring for, Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi AKeredolu has declared.

Akeredolu declared this at a book launch titled: ” Time For Amendment of Life” written by 83-year-old Emeritus Bishop Mathew Oluremi Owadayo, retired Bishop of Egba Diocese in Ibadan, Oyo State capital at a book launch held at International Conference Center, University of Ibadan, on Thursday.

Represented by his Deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Akeredolu said the Country’s structure needed to be reviewed.

“Our political, economic and social system has to be properly reviewed so that we can all live peacefully, in goodness and honesty” .

“So, the environment has to be right for people to thrive”, he emphasized.

Akeredolu added that, “on this, government has a lot to do, because no society is static… society evolves, and the evolution brings about a lot of challenges, demands and new trends” .

“In all of these, the main part of the system is the value which must be upheld… the value that I’m talking about is the foundation, and that foundation is shaking in Nigeria today…as I pray that God will help us on these challenges” , he said.

Akeredolu who is the chairman of South West Governors’ forum challenged the church to continue to speak out and pray for the country particularly those in the position of authority.

“The church has a major role to play, because we are called into one field or the other”.

“Every policy made rightly or wrongly by government will also affect the church, so at all times, there is the need to pray for our leaders to take rightful decision” .

“And with prayers, it  can only be better”, he assured.

The Chairman of the Book Launch, Ambassador Yemi Farounbi noted that “the society has penetrated the church more than the church has penetrated the society, so it’s time for amendment” .

In his own welcome message, Emeritus Bishop Mathew Oluremi Owadayo who is the author of the book said, he wrote the book because of the situation in the country.

“This book is a message to this Nation that we must change our ways”, he advised.
