Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has been commended for the recent elevation of some primary school teachers in the state to Grade Level 16 and position of potential permanent secretary.
The teachers from the Ondo North District and particularly those in the primary schools, gave the commendation while speaking with The Hope on Thursday.
They posited that the act will go a long way to rekindle the urge to give their best by those teaching in the lowest rung of educational institutions in the state.
According to them, Akeredolu, by this act has further shown that he is a worker friendly leader whose administration can never be forgotten by primary school teachers in the state.
They therefore, called on other states to emulate the policy and good gesture.
Two of them, Mr Afisu Sadiq from Afin Akoko and Alhaji Jamiu Zakarriyah from Ajowa Akoko, were full of joy, saying the development was an incentive which will also serve as catalyst to hardwork, dedication and equally serve as a reward for better performance.
A retired principal from Isua in Akoko Southeast Local Government, Mr Olajide Afolabi, said gone were the days when primary school teachers were being looked down upon saying their rewards have come.
Afolabi urged them to make dedication, punctuality and hardworking their watchwords.
The educationist reminded primary school teachers on the need to improve their standard of education as provided by Nigeria Teachers Institute and other institutions of higher learning in the country.
