Carpenter dies doing bricklayer’s job

A middle-aged carpenter has reportedly lost his life when the wall of a dilapidated school classroom collapsed on him in Okitipupa, the headquarters of Okitipupa local government area of Ondo State.

The Hope Metro gathered that the deceased was performing the work of a bricklayer when he met his untimely death.

It was learnt that the deceased, popularly known as Aare,  a father of four, was a native of Ode Irele.

Reports said he got a contract to pull down the dilapidated two-classroom building at the Local Authority Primary School, behind St. Williams Group of Schools, Okitipupa.

Sources said he started pulling down the building some days ago, before the former head teacher of the school was transferred.

The Hope Metro gathered that the school Headmistress, Mrs Abioola Ekundayo, who resumed less than two weeks had obtained permission from the supervisory organ of the school to go ahead with the demolition of the old structure built in 1950s.

L . A. Primary School, Okitipupa was  founded in 1955.

His corpse has been deposited at the morgue of the State Specialist Hospital, Okitipupa.

Efforts to confirm the incident from the State Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami, proved abortive as a call put to her was not returned.
