Driver in court for manslaughter

A 29-year-old commercial driver, Isiaka Adebayo has been arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court over alleged manslaughter.
The accused person who pleaded not guilty allegedly committed the offence on September 10, 2020 around 1:00pm at Aregbe junction, Ogo Oluwa in Osogbo.
Police prosecutor, Mr. Jacob Akintunde told the court that the accused person being the drove an unregistered the vehicle in a dangerous manner and caused the death of one Mustapha Kabiru of number 6 Fadilulahi Area in Osogbo.
He further said that the accused person drove the unregistered vehicle on the public highway without vehicle licence and road worthiness.
He stated that the offence committed is contrary to and punishable under Sections 27, 21(b),142 and 139 Cap 548 of RTA Laws of Nigeria 2012.
Defence Counsel, Lukuman Adeleke prayed the court to grant his client bail in most liberal term.
In his ruling, Magistrate Isola Omisade granted the accused person bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in like sum.
He thereby adjourned the case till November 23, 2020 for hearing.
