Ekiti PDP sues for peace over convention result

From Victor Akinkuolie, Ado-Ekiti

In respect of the outcome of the just concluded National Convention of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) the Ekiti State chapter of the party has called on every stakeholder to bury their differences for the unity of the party, in order to form a formidable team that can dislodge the ruling All Progressive Congress, (APC).
In a statement made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday by the PDP State Publicity Secretary, Mr. Raphael Adeyanju said the acting Chairman of the party in the State, Mr. Lanre Omolase, urged members to borrow a leave from the national leadership of the party that conducted free and peaceful convention.
Omolase said ” the last national convention of our party should serve as a great lesson to all our party members, it was an indication that our national leaders are really determined to lead us in a rescue mission to save Nigeria.
“If the PDP is really ready to wrestle power from the ruling APC in Ekiti State, we as members must bury our differences and jettison our individual interest to the collective interest for the party.”
The party urged members to emulate leaders that supervised a crisis free convention which produced neither a victor nor a vanquished .
While commending members of the party over what he described as the peaceful conduct of the exercise, however, admonished those that may not favoured by the outcome of the convention do not see themselves as losers.
He said “The National Convention has ratified the Ward, Local Government and State Congresses that produced the present Ekiti State PDP Executives . As the highest rulling organ of the party , the decision of the convention is final and bounding on all members of the party. Anybody who decides to take contrary steps will be viewed as engaging in anti party activities.
“”We urge all aggrieved members of the PDP to come to a round table to resolve our differences, in the interest of our great party and Ekiti State .
“We cannot go to any battle with a divided home. We shall soon reach out to all stakeholders , so that we can collectively map out the strategy of winning the next election.”
The PDP chieftain warned those he described as Social Media Activists to desist from attacking members and leaders of the party.
