Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has urged the people of the State to use the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ to show love to one another and preach against hate.

Equally, the Speaker of State House of Assembly, Chief Olamide Oladiji, called on Christians to continue to pray for Nigeria to overcome her  challenges.

Aiyedatiwa in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, extended an invitation to all to imbibe forgiving spirit, saying “as you forgive, the Lord will relieve you of anger, resentment and pain and bring you peace.”

The Governor said: “I greet you all, especially our Christian brothers and sisters, as we celebrate Easter in commemoration of the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ after a glorious self-sacrifice for the redemption of mankind.

“The message of Easter reminds us of the power of divine love, faith and redemption. Easter also evokes in us the resilience of the human spirit not to give up in the face of seemingly daunting challenges of life.

“I urge you to increase your love for one another rather than hate, and show more patriotic commitment to the development of our State. Let us remember that the scriptural emphasis of love has so much relevance for us today as a people more than ever before, and thus contributes towards the peace and development of our State.

“I wish you all a joyful and blessed Easter. Happy celebrations.”

In his Easter message to Nigerians, Oladiji emphasised the efficacy of prayer as a potent weapon to solve the nation’s problems.

In a statement by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Oladiji stressed the need for Nigerians to keep their hope alive, stressing that there is always light after the tunnel.

While congratulating Christians on the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, Oladiji said it symbolises a rebirth and renewed hope for Nigerians.

While urging Nigerians to key into the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Speaker was hopeful of a new Nigeria where opportunities abound for the people.

Similarly, the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye, congratulated Christians, the people of Owo and Nigerians in general, on this year’s Easter celebration.

Oba Ogunoye, in a statement signed and released by his Special Assistant Media, Sam Adewale, said the period is symbolic in relation to faith about the death of Jesus Christ, that preaches resurrection, peace, tolerance, forgiveness, perseverance and good neighbourliness.

The Monarch disclosed that, for the people to justify the crucifixion and resurrection of the son of God, there is the need to continue to show love as well as provision for the less privileged in the society.

The Olowo added that since Christ had duly paid the prize for the people of the world towards salvation, they must not let this supreme sacrifice go in vain.

Meanwhile, Christians across the Ondo North Senatorial District, on Sunday trooped to their various churches in continuation of the Easter celebrations.

Many of them, who wore their best attires were in joyous mood as they looked forward to Monday (today) to go to the Galilee in furtherance of the celebrations.
