Residents of Gbodofon area in Osogbo on Thursday scampered to safety as gunmen disrupted the meeting of The Osun Progressives (TOP), a caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Oranmiyan is the venue of the weekly meeting of the factional group of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), The Osun Progressives (TOP).
The gunmen suspected to be political thugs were said to have invaded the office while TOP weekly meeting was still going on.
It was gathered that traders and passerby at the scene scampering for safety when the gunmen attacked the meeting around 2pm.
It was learnt that gun rent the air for about five minutes during the attack.
The Hope Metro learnt that the gunmen came in black sienna bus and headed towards Ogo-Oluwa after perpetrating the act.
The Osun Progressives is the group loyal to the Minister of Interior and Former Governor of the State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
It was learnt that the operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) who are usually on ground at the weekly meeting by the APC members were absent on Thursday.
Speaking during a press conference, the Chairman of TOP, Elder Adebiyi Adelowo, called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali to wade into APC internal crisis in order to avoid unnecessary attacks.
