Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has charged the new Agadagba of Arogbo Ijaw-Ibe, Pere Zacchaeus Doubra Egbunu to be more concerned with developmental issues.

Speaking while presenting instrument of appointment and Staff of Office to the monarch, the governor, who was represented by his deputy, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, also called on the people of the community to support Pere Doubra to attain the desired development.

The governor, who lauded the people of Arogbo Ijaw-Ibe and the Kingmakers in particular for exploring all the processes of selecting their monarch, urged the king to reach out to all, including the aggrieved in the kingdom to move the community forward.

“No doubt, you have a daunting task and very significant role to play in harnessing the potentials of your people for the good of Arogbo Ijaw-Ibe. I appeal to you to begin in earnest. I enjoin you to reach out to everyone in love,” he admonished.

“To all sons and daughters of Arogbo, I want to say that the success of the new Agadagba will only be made possible by your loyalty, cooperation, love, honour and respect for his person and the stool. I therefore advise you to forget the past and be resolute to move Arogbo Ijaw-Ibe forward,” he added.

While calling for the support and cooperation of all citizens as required catalysts for government performance, the governor used the occasion to reassure the people that electricity would soon be restored to the area given the recent initiatives of government.

Earlier in her remarks, the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Deaconess Lola Fagbemi, had thanked Arakunrin Akeredolu for sanitising the issues of kingship selection process thereby making it possible to celebrate coronations in the towns, adding that the era has gone when such presentations could only be done in the Governor’s Office.

In his reaction, the new monarch, who described his emergence as a call to service to his people, highlighted the community’s challenges and expectations to include portable water, health facilities, township road network, inclusion of affected youths in the amnesty programme and construction of a modern palace among others, saying government should come to their aid.

It would be recalled that Pere Doubra at who is the tenth Agadagba of Arogbo ibe, a retired Permanent Secretary of the State Judicial Service Commission was enthroned  after 11years of the demise of HIM Pere Ebenezer Epetetun.
