Immigration promotes 37 officers in Ondo

Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, has promoted and decorated no fewer than 37 officers to various ranks in Ondo State.

Ondo State Comptroller of Immigration, Olufunmilayo Bosede, who decorated the officers, said that the promotion was to boost the morale of the officers, so they could be encouraged to do better in the service.

Bosede explained that the promotion was also a fulfillment in part of the promises of the acting Comptroller General, Wuraola Adepoju, to address the welfare of the officers as and  when due.

The 37 promoted officers include: one Deputy Comptroller, five Chief Superintendents of Immigration, three Superintendent of Immigration, seven Deputy Superintendent’s| six Assistant Superintendents, of immigration and 15 Assistant Superintendent’s  immigration.

The Comptroller added that to whom much is given much is expected, noting that it is an added responsibility for the officers.

“To others that were not promoted, there is always a next time especially now that we have a new acting Comptroller General that has emphasized the welfare of officers. Our promotion is part of the welfare to encourage officers to enable them give their best”.

The Comptroller disclosed that more promotions will be coming up soon.

Speaking, State Controller, Nigeria Correctional Centre, Jude Agboje said: “We encourage you all with new ranks and we pray that God will help you, it is important that you understand the ranks you are wearing.

“It is a call for higher responsibility and it’s important you understand and carry yourself well.”

The Ondo State Director of Defence Intelligence Agency, Aborinde Adeyemo at the ceremony also advised the newly promoted officers to see their promotion as added responsibility.

He added that the newly promoted officers should ensure they increase their inputs at their various departments.

The Ondo State Commandant of The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Olayinka Olatundun enjoined them to see their promotion as a call to service as their loyalty is required.

Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, Deputy Comptroller Immigration, Folasade Olaofe, who was promoted from ACI to DCI commended the State Immigration Comptroller and the entire immigration service for the promotion.

She said that the promotion would encourage them to give their best to Nigerians and the Force and pledged commitment to live up to the expectations of the new rank.
