As part of the traditions of Owo, the new Olowo-elect, Prince Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye will be formally presented to the Iloros by the Kingmakers today (Friday July 26) for the commencement of the installation rites which will eventually make him the new Olowo of Owo.

The Ojumu of Owo and one of the kingmakers in Owo, Chief Olanrewaju Famakinwa made this known in a chat with The Hope in Owo yesterday.

Famakinwa said it is the tradition for the kingmakers to present whoever the Senior Omolowos had presented to them (the kingmakers), and after ratification by the Kingmakers, to the Iloros who will now commence the installation rites.

According to the Ojumu, the kingmakers have the grace of 14 days to do this after the body has approved the choice of the Senior Omolowos.

August 23 has been fixed for the final installation rites and the Olowo-elect will on that day officially mount the stool of the Olowo of Owo.

Similarly traders at the Ogwata market will also go back to the Oja Oba where they were relocated from.

The traders relocated to the market following the demise of Oba Folagbade Olateru-Olagbegi on April 17, this year.

It is the norm in Owo for traders to relocate to Ogwata at the passage of a reigning king.

Prince Ajibade Ogunoye emerged the Olowo-elect with 14 out of the 15 votes cast by the Senior Omolowos on July 12 to beat other 16 contestants.
