Man, 27, in court over N1.5m theft

For allegedly defrauding a filling Station in Akure of N1.5m, a 27- year-old man, Dabo Francis has been dragged before an Akure Chief Magistrate Court.
The suspect was said to have defrauded one Bowets filling station along Ilseha road Akure, capital of Ondo State, the sum of money.
Francis was said to have committed the offence around July, where he allegedly converted the filling station’s money to his personal use.
The suspect is facing two count charge of fraud and conspiracy. He was alleged to have defrauded Bowets oil company the sum of N1,500,000, being the proceeds of petroleum product and did falsify Bowets Company P.O.S receipts when he was a Manager and the sale clerk of the company.
The offence committed was said to be contrary to section 3 and punishable under section 390(6) and 438(a) of the Criminal Code Cap 37,Vol. 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
The police prosecutor, Sgt. Oniyere Taiwo pleaded with the court to remand the suspect pending when the investigation will be concluded.
In his ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Adepoju J. O. A, granted the accused person bail with two sureties.
The case was adjourned to 20th of August, 2020.
