Missing girl found dead in Akoko

The sleepy town of Eshe in Akoko North West local government area of Ondo state was thrown into pandemonium when the corpse of a 13-year-old girl who was declared missing for over a week was discovered in a bush.
Aina Olododo, a native of Irun Akoko was said to have gone to Eshe market to sell pork meat but did not return home.
Her parents were said to have organised search party to look for her when they did not see her.
According to a source, an okada rider from Eshe was said to have taken the girl to her Irun hometown after the day’s sales from market.
The parents were said to have reported to the monarch of Eshe, Oba Ojo Adewumi who ordered a search and rescue party which discovered the corpse of the girl in a bush .
The suspected okada rider was immediately arrested and detained at Irun Akoko Divisional police office.
The traditional ruler, Oba Adewumi described the incident as strange in the community.
Both police area commander for Akoko, Assistant commissioner of police, Razak Rauf and DPO for Irun Akoko, CSP Gbenga Ogunleye confirmed the incident and said that investigation had begun.
However, things turned sour as angry youths from Irun mobilised themselves to Eshe to forcefully take the corpse of the girl.
According to a source, the youths who were armed with cudgels, dangerous weapons obstructed the police while carrying the corpse to the State Specialist Hospital mortuary, Ikare Akoko and damaged their vehicle in the process.
It was learnt the angry youths later headed to the house of the suspected killer at Esua quarters in Eshe and chased out the occupants before setting their belongings on fire.
Meanwhile the Elese of Ese Akoko, Oba Ojo Adewumi has appealed to his people to allow peace to reign.
Oba Adewumi urged people to embrace peace as two neighbouring towns cannot continue to fight.
A community leader from Irun Akoko, Mr Femi Oloketuyi urged parties to sue for peace and allow police to do thorough investigation.
