Mob burnt ‘Yahoo’ boys’ car for killing two

It was a gory sight on Monday, as a young man identified as a “Yahoo boy” crushed to death a man and a woman, who were passengers on a commercial motorcycle in Akure metropolio.
An angry mob, who watched as the man and the lady said to be his concubine gave up the ghost instantly, set the vehicle ablaze.
The Hope Metro gathered that the victims met their untimely death at about 1 am around a popular joint along Oba Adesida road in the town.
It was learnt that the deceased man after catching some fun boarded the Okada with his concubine.
Reports had it that the ‘Yahoo boy’ in company of his friends, were also coming from a night club, and on high speed, could not control himself as he was drunk to stupor.
An eyewitness, Saheed, told The Hope Metro that the driver of the vehicle, a green mercedes 230 E hit the Okada from the rear, leading to the death of the victims, while the Okada rider was injured.
Saheed told our correspondent that immediately the driver of the vehicle and his friends knew what had happened, they took to their heels and abandoned the new vehicle at the spot.
However, the angry mob were said to have pursued the boys, but was only able to apprehend the driver, while others absconded .
The unidentified ‘yahoo’ boy was said to have escaped lynching as he was rescued by policemen from the Area Command office in Akure.
In a similar development a yet-to-be identified roadside trader has been crushed to death in a lone accident along Gbongan-Osogbo road, Ogooluwa area in Osogbo.
The aged woman who was selling roasted plantain and yam was crushed to death by a private car at her business point.
The Hope Metro gathered that the accident which involved a Honda car with registration number GGE235GL occurred around 1:30pm on Tuesday.
It was learnt that the driver sustained injuries.
An eyewitness, Raheem Adigun narrated that the accident occurred some minutes after the woman arrived from the market.
The spokesperson, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Agnes Ogungbemi confirmed the accident.
She stated: “the victims had been taken to the hospital and the vehicle involved was towed to Ataoja police station.”
