The African Union, AU, has described Ondo State as a strategic investment destination in Nigeria.
The Nigerian Representative of AU Economic, Social and Cultural Council, AU-ECOSOCC, Mr. John Oba-Olasunkanmi made this known during a courtesy visit to the state Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
He explained that AU-ECOSOCC which is a major organ of the African Union was interested in establishing projects that would ensure domestication of African Union policies, protocols and programmes in choice locations.
He said Ondo State is about to play host to a major quarry project.
Mr. Oba-Olasunkanmi emphasized that while touring Ondo State with a technical expert, they observed that the state has a lot of mining potentials which encouraged them to establish one of the largest granite factories in the state.
The Hope reports that while receiving the delegation, Governor Akeredolu said his administration is attracting investors with his commitment to industrialize the state, including revitalization of moribund industries which can be salvaged.
He commended the African Union for its proactive steps at entrenching development across the African continent through African facilitations without relying on partners outside the continent such as the World Bank and IMF.
He used the occasion to showcase Ondo State as the home to the largest variety of dimensional stones with over 22 colours which led to the establishment of OFL Marble and Granite factory at Afo in Ose Local Government Area, saying his administration is set to partner the investors to make sure the project is a success.
Akeredolu assured that his administration would continue to encourage genuine investors willing to do business in the state and equally go as far as assisting investors in securing the needed license from the Federal Government in their respective areas of investment in the mining sector.
