By Tola Gbadamosi

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Ondo State Council, is forging a partnership with the state’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to bolster voter education efforts for women.

State Chairperson of the association, Comrade Tola Gbadamosi, made the appeal when she led the state executives of NAWOJ on a courtesy visit to the INEC office today.

According to her; “We want to collaborate with your commission to help build the capacity of women and youths towards enhancing their participation in electoral processes and in politics.

She noted that women are also known to have strong will, so they can also vie for positions and contest without begging, adding that there is no reason why more women cannot win elections and occupy higher posts considering their numerical strength.

“We want you to also help and partner with us in the area of voter education for women, so that women can be more enlightened on how to vote and vote properly so that their votes can be counted and make a difference in the state”, she said.

” I have no doubt in me, that collaboration like this can truly enhance participation in electoral processes and politics”, she stated.

In her reaction, the Ondo state Resident Electoral Commission, REC, Mrs Oluwatoyin Babalola lauded the peaceful coexistence among people of Ondo state, especially during this political season.

Mrs. Babalola affirmed, that the commission was always on top of its roles to ensure smooth conduct of the electoral process through voters’ education, with rules of engagement, and fairness to all involved.
