Osun State residents have been urged to avoid all forms of activities that may cause environmental hazards in the state, especially during this harmattan period.
The General Manager, Osun State Emergency Management Agency, Olanipekun gave the charge in Osogbo, while fielding questions from journalists.
According to him, residents should avoid burning of bush, mishandling of gas cooker, carelessness in handling electrical appliances at homes and offices among others, which may wreak havoc on lives and property.
He further stressed that unused electrical equipment should always be unplugged when users are not at home or in their office, saying, prevention is better than cure.
He, however appreciated Governor Gboyega Oyetola ensuring the security of lives and propertyof residents is paramount to his administration.
Olanipekun equally advised both private and commercial drivers to always exercise caution while driving very early in the morning.
He implored them to and always switch on their head light while driving for clear vision to avoid road accident due to cloudy atmosphere that usually accompanies harmattan season.
